handmade gifts....

Each year one of the things I like to do at Christmas is give hand made gifts... and I really like getting hand made gifts. This year I did a few different ones, but Ed got into the idea as well. When Sadie and Jessie lived with us, and then moved out, some of their things were left behind.. one being a set of moose antlers that I believe was Jessie's grandfathers. It was just the set of antlers and Jessie had all intentions of getting them mounted one day.
Ed studied them and felt that he and I could make a mount for these antlers. So, Ed made a beautiful base for them, and then we found a way to dress them up a bit....

We can't wait to see the look on Jessie's face when he sees them. I know for a fact that this is something he would never think of for his gift... and I have to say, I think they can out quite nice for a couple of folks who really weren't too sure what we were doing...

The doggie candy cane covers will be for the little kids who do the reading dog program....

And then, Abi's stocking was finally finished... I will have another one to do next year when baby Calvin has come... but that's something to "worry" about then.

There just seem to be something special about gifts that come from your hands... I think because while you work on them, you have that person in your mind... and to be thought of by someone else like that is a pretty great thing.....
