hey, wait a minute.. it's December??

And to answer my own title question... yes, it's December, and it has caught me a little off guard. But, the decorations are showing up everywhere, so that's a sure sign. My life has been turned a little upside down. Last week my boss called, she had (has) a family emergency and had to get to Florida asap. Not knowing how long this may take, her words to me were ... "the post office is yours for the next two weeks"... YIKES!!!! I don't mind working my Saturdays, and a few fill in here and there days... but two solid weeks....this has required MAJOR re-arranging of things.
So far, I'm managing.. with tons of help at home from Sadie and Ed... and of course, I am beyond tired.. but it's getting done. Thinking on the positive side, however, I have been bringing Rylie with me on occasion to get in some "office time work".. and she has been doing very very well. But, I can't wait for this to be done, and I do wonder how other people work full time!!!!

Now, being that time of year, there are always fun things going on... and our old home town always has the nicest little parade the first Saturday of the month. My sister Rachel wanted to have a little float for her Brownie troop, and she came up with the idea of a sleigh and reindeer.. She asked if we minded loaning her a sleigh, which we happily did.
And with a bit of work, here is "a miniature sleigh and TWO tiny reindeer!!!"
In keeping with the magic of Christmas, it began to snow just as the parade was lining up and getting ready to go...
The girls, including my niece Naomi, were all pretty excited about their float and being able to ride in the parade.....
Just as it was getting dark, the lights came on, and the parade pulled out.... actually this parade really isn't so little anymore, and some of the floats are quite elaborate...
As pretty as the snow was, it was also wet and cold.. poor Camille.. even with her coat on, she was still pretty cold, so Deb picked her up and got her off the cold ground. Camille was pretty happy with the special attention..
However, Moxie and Rylie had to stay on the ground. They didn't seem as cold as Camille was, but by the time the parade was over, I think they were happy to get moving and warmed up...
I didn't get too many good photos of the parade... (my camera couldn't make up it's mind about the lighting)....
But here are our little Brownies and their float.....
After the parade, we all went back to Kassy and Nate's for Christmas treats and to warm up. They had their tree up already, so officially... this is Rylie and Moxie's first Christmas tree!!! I think they were just happy to be some where warm and dry....
I somehow missed the memo on "you need to wear purple"... Ed, Deb, Kelli and Kas all had purple on.. silly me.. I went with the red and green theme.....
Goodness, did Cam have Deb's number or what??? not only was she cuddled at the parade.. but took full advantage of Deb's lap on the couch... silly girl....
I found this little ornament for Kas and Nate's tree ( in case you can't tell.. the "mommy" is expecting)... I couldn't resist it!!!! And so, the Christmas season has begun.. with family and friends.. good eats and a celebration... a very good omen to begin with...........
