first fall weekend....

Reagan and I had a date this past week. Kass had a  doctor's appointment to attend to that would be easier if she could go herself. So, I popped down to watch Reagan.

It was such a pretty day that we couldn't stay inside, so I had him hop into the stroller and we headed up town.
We grabbed a bagel muffin and drinks and then headed over to the library. I thought it  might be fun to pop in on Kathleen and just see what was happening there.

Little did I know all the fun things the library has to offer....who would have thought that super cool trucks would be on their list.  Reagan was delighted....

He happily played with the trucks and I got a chance to visit with Kathleen... pretty fun time for all of us if I do say so...
As we were leaving Reagan noticed the children's computer and ran right over to it... come listen he told me....

"You can hear my baby's heart beat if you want to"....
having been to other doctor's appointments with Kass... Reagan has heard his sibling's heart beat a number of time and I guess this made him think of it...

so we listened to the heart beat!!!! (at least in his mind...)
Rory was hanging out with Kathleen today, but that really didn't interest Reagan... he sees dogs all the time!!!!

And so... fall is officially here... at least with the activities around town. The applefest certainly had a perfect fall day for their fun time...
There were several nice vendors... food... rides, apples of course.... Kass and Reagan came for the event....
It's easy to see where his interest is... with all that was going on.. nothing better than to climb on the tractor....
getting him was another matter!!!!!
Hugging a goat helped.....
But actually picking out your own pumpkin (and as many as you like) is what really got the tractor out of his mind... Reagan LOVES pumpkins... they have several at home already, but nothing doing.. there are always more to be found....
Kass managed to get away with just two this time.... by the time Halloween arrives they will probably have their very own pumpkin patch!!!!
And what's fall without this!!!! it's wood stacking season again... this year, I'm a little ahead of the game... getting Rick to drop wood every few weeks and trying to keep it all stacked...
One bay in the shed is already done... this goes into the second bay....
This little hoppy toad was happy to keep me company, trouble was I had to be careful not to step on him... finally I just moved him to the rocks so I could step and not worry. I suppose he's after any bugs that might come into the wood pile..... but after today there wont be a pile for him to worry about.

Love seeing the shed filling up......
Ed's been doing some finish work on the underneath deck area. We don't want the doggies going up under the deck on top of the retaining wall. So Ed's put up this lattice work... that will keep them out of there. I just had visions of them up on that wall and someone jumping or falling off and breaking something...
It looks nice too and makes a storage area if we need one... now, just get the stair put on off the deck and this project will be done!!!! It seems to be taking so long, but we do it as time permits....
Things are beginning to have that fall look.... the nights are cooler and the days are getting shorter...

this big full moon reminds me that the seasons have begun to change...

checkin in with Rory.....

Today we took Rory to NEADS for her check in. She's been such an easy dog that I feel like all we're really doing is giving her a little break from the prison training and allowing her to see more of real life. Since I don't have a puppy yet... Kathleen and I have been sharing her and she has been living between the two places. Kathleen will be taking her home tonight, so today she worked with her and I mostly tagged along....
We went into a different city today... Rory didn't care, she walked along with Kathleen like always. We also are working with a couple of new trainers... Annie and Lacey... Dave has left NEADs and moved onto new adventures... I'm sure going to miss not seeing him each month....

The gals are nice, but we full timers are not what they're used to, so there is some getting things sorted out. I know we'll be fine, but I miss the way we always used to do it....
We  went into a shop that is used to having NEADS dogs... Rory was wonderful.....
And with the name "Rory".. you just know we had to do a photo with a lion!!!  Actually, she was named by a local lions club... thus her name......
We went into a cute little diner for lunch. Rory went right under the table and never made a peep. It was nice to sit and talk with the gals.. work on what the future training sessions will be like (and begged for a puppy to come home.....)

but since there aren't any puppies available for now (or actually for an unknown time)..  I guess Rory will be our gal and Kathleen and I will continue to co-raise.

Which is fun, but I want a pup!!!!

first day of fall...

We're in for a good apple season... the trees are loaded and they all look like this. I can't wait for some good apples... pies... crisp... yup, it's getting into my time of year...

Met up with some of the ladies from church to pick apples... this coming weekend is the applefest and these apples will be going into pies that will be sold at the festival. The orchard donates the apples.. we bake the pies and then they are sold with the monies going to all sorts of good causes... it's a fun project....
to quote a line from Baby Boom... "that should be enough to make a pie".....
The orchard is getting all dressed up for apple season and the festival....
Fall decorations are just as pretty as the ones at Christmas time........

Reagan came to play with me at the farm... I just love it when he comes... and it makes me so excited and happy to think that there's another little grand on the way. I hope they will always love coming and visiting at Baby and Papa's farm....
He was very happy to find this great pile of loam.... you know that he just has to get busy with his equipment and get it moved....
so much dirt.... so little time.....

After he had time in the pile he was ready to come, have a snack and refuel his equipment. Papa has an old brass fire extinguisher that will do nicely
imagination... isn't it the greatest thing!!!!  We had a super fun day together... and I look forward to having many many more....
It's pretty easy to see who now runs the house... little Henry has moved right in and has shown all these cocker spaniels that he is the king.... Actually he and Livy are great friends, and the games they come up entertain me for hours....
but, I dare say... pounce .. has to be the favorite, and anyone that walks by is fair game... though for poor old Hunter and Trevor, it's not so fun.. being deaf they have no idea he's there and he can scare them nearly to death....
Livy loves it though and I think she makes it easy for him to catch her.....
He loves the dogs... I know it's cause he lived with Hallie and Ollie.... so being around black cocker spaniels, he feels right at home.....

Livy... checking things outside..... (you'd think we put big windows in just so they can see out better!!!!)
Kittens.... even a paper cup can be fun.... maybe there is some life lesson there....
