a passing class

riding lessons!!! (8/6/17)

Storyland (8/5/17)

Weeks ago, we had planned today for our annual trip to Storyland... rain has been predicted for today this past week, and we have been debating back and forth as to whether we should go or not. Looking at the up coming calendar, my fear was if not today, I wasn't sure when it could happen again. So after much debate, we decided that we would go and just enjoy as much of the park as we could and see what the weather brought. Arrival was rain....
but we managed to corral everyone in the picture frame... each year it changes and yet it doesn't.....
and I can see where one little grand isn't going to be much for the posing and wants to get on with this day and see what there is to see....
and it just might take four adults to chase after him!!!!!
Sadie wanted to be sure that "baby Kelsey" was included... this year riding inside, but next year, I sure she'll be in the carry stage... while the "big kids" run on ahead!!!
Baby, Papa and the grands!!!!!

I have to say, one good thing about a rainy day.. the lines were very short or not at all. And there are plenty of rides where you can go and keep kind of dry. Reagan couldn't wait to drive the little cars...
And of course, Abi was the driver of her car......
Very serious at the wheel....
During a couple of down pours we had to duck under cover. But I will give it to Storyland, they know how to plan, and had many of the park characters in places like this to entertain the kids while we waited for the rain drops to pass....
but, our kiddos don't mind rain, and so it wasn't too long before we were back out again and enjoying having the park almost to ourselves. Abi has always loved the big tree house...
Reagan looks like the king of the castle....
Not  much of a mountain view this day..... the clouds rolled across the tops.... we had dressed for the weather, and the day was turning off to be so much fun...
Course always my favorite is their beautiful carousel. And this year all the kids were big enough to ride. Calvin thought it was great fun and was kind of unhappy when we pulled him off at the end...
I said to Kass that this better be the only time she finds her menfolk in jail!!!
Like wise for these two!!!!
Abi wanted so much to have her face painted this year, so she decided that would be her special treat. Personally, I didn't care for it. but they do quite the painting and she was pretty excited to have it done...
I wasn't sure how much of the park Reagan remembered from last year, but when he saw the tractors he lit right up. He does remember these and couldn't wait to take Cal on them with him...

Poor Abi.. this year there wasn't anyone to do the big rides with her. Sadly none of us, expect for her Mom are up for them, but with baby kelsey on the way, Sadie couldn't do the big rides either. Abi did convince Papa and Kass to try the flying barn...
Ed said it wasn't too bad.. and Abi was happy to at least "get one big ride".. she says she going to make up for this year when we come back next summer, so her Mom best be prepared!!!
Another downpour sent us into the ball house. Which Calvin really loved. The balls are everywhere and there are all kinds of things to shoot them from or send the away on. He could have stayed here all day, and had the best time racing around collecting up the balls and sending the off in this machine or that machine...

Abi wanted a picture with the Egyptian  cat.....

and onto the jungle ride... which Reagan was a bit unsure about  (until we got it started ) . One thing Reagan does not like are surprises and things that he doesn't know about... he's a lot like his Mom in this regards...
Calvin is more daring...... it will be interesting to see if this how it continues as they grow....
Now, why one would do a water ride when the day is already wet is beyond me. But this is Papa's favorite ride, and Abi wanted to go with him. She wisely wore her rain coat!!!!
Little ones were beginning to fade towards the end of the day, but we all agreed that really one of the best days to go are rainy ones. I think in the future, we won't worry so much about what the weather is, because I think we enjoyed the park just as much as we have in the past years.

Our last ride of the day was on the train that goes around the park. That was all Calvin could take and we weren't even half around when he was out in his Mom's arms...
Just too much fun for this little one. Next year, he'll keep up with the big ones.....
and so, once again, another fun summer family event is neatly tucked into the books and the memories....

thank you Storyland... you never disappoint us!!!!
