the end of an era.....

But change is in the way...Jeanne is retiring from the daycare side, and the property has been sold...houses will be built and the building is coming down. And the doggie print building will be remembered, but no longer seen.
I loved teaching here...you certainly could not complain about a small class room, or the students not having enough space. It was awesome for bigger groups and practicing the come commands.I even had some classes here just for the service dogs when we had a bigger group here in Maine. So many memories....
Livy and Boomer came tonight...but when I first started teaching here...Moxie was the dog I had...then it was Camille and now Livy...and the service puppies in training, almost too many to name.
This is my last graduating class....they were such a fun group, and I think they felt honored to know they would be the last ones....
Its hard to write this story...not just the goodbye but so many stories in my head about being here, that I can't even begin to write them all. I guess they'll mostly be tucked in my mind and my smiles ..

new month and big changes on the way...
So, after some serious thought, and guidance, we decided to hire him on, and all him and his crew to do a heathy harvest.
We also have an anniversary!!! Abraham arrived last year on February 4th, I can't believe he has been with us this long.
He has turned out to be a very good boy and we love him very much. There are things about him that are so much like our Duke, which has been fun. He seems quite happy here too, he and Tonka are very good friends, and when I need him to "work", he seems very willing to do so. Of course, Duke will always hold his own spot in our hearts, like any of our animals do... but Abe has certainly helped in the healing process...
Happy anniversary big guy!!!
and Horus... well, if we catch him at night, he's been a pretty good little pet to have as well.
One thing for sure, we have a lot of variety here on the farm... and even I never know what comes next!!!!

January thaw
This is not so unusual in the great state, one day we're in winter..its cold, it's dark and my words fear, it's icy.. Even the animals are not impressed.. Rio pops out once in a while, but ice and snow aren't really his thing..
And then, in literally a few hours..a warm front comes roaring threw and we are in spring!!!
The driveway goes from this
To this.....glad we didn't call to have it sanded!!!
And the farm seems to wake up for a few days and remind us that spring will appear once again
Trouble is..its only January, winter still has long to go...so I'll enjoy this thaw..even the mud..open the windows and let fresh air in the house, get outside and soak up the warmth and sun..and be ready for what's coming...in a few days
